Who is eligible for McCord Research Foundation funding?

Scholarship: All candidates in the University of Iowa Biosciences Graduate School Program are eligible following successful completion of their first year. Successful completion includes a minimum 3.0 GPA and acceptance into a Ph.D. program. Applicants cannot be past their second year of graduate training. Each year the scholarship recipient is selected by the biosciences faculty and awarded a one-time stipend of $20,000.

Fellowship: Researchers and candidates studying in the areas of free radical biology and/or wound care science are eligible to apply for the McCord Research Foundation Fellowships. The Fellowship recipients must be recommended by a McCord Research Foundation faculty mentor and up to six Fellowships will be ongoing each year.

The McCord Research Foundation Fellowship provides full funding for all research-related activities including the recipient’s salary, benefits, supplies, and travel and incidental costs associated with publishing novel research. The Fellowship is renewable for the entire length of study—generally three to four years—provided the recipient is working towards publication of his/her research in a peer-reviewed journal. The Fellowship is terminated if a recipient leaves the program or ceases to be recommended by a faculty mentor. The average yearly value of each fellowship is $70,000.
